Become a Director

We are currently seeking volunteers to serve on our Board as Foundation Directors.

By joining the Board, you will be helping to create a safe and nurturing environment where pupils can grow spiritually and academically. You’ll be part of a vibrant community working together to deliver the very best Catholic education.

If you are interested and fulfil the criteria below, please contact Mark Mountcastle (CEO - ceo@olhoc.org.uk) in the first instance.

It is a hugely rewarding role, giving back to your community and we look forward to welcoming you.

Key Requirements & Steps:

  • Be a Practising Catholic: This is the primary requirement, along with being over 18, to ensure commitment to the Church's teachings and the school's Catholic character.
  • Express Interest: Contact Shrewsbury diocese or the CEO directly to enquire about the application process.
  • Diocesan Appointment: The Bishop appoints Foundation Directors in order to safeguard the Catholic ethos, so you must be willing to serve the Diocese's educational vision.
  • Skill & Experience Diversity: We currently need certain skills (please see below), you also do not need teaching experience; your life experience is valuable.
  • Time Commitment: Expect around 6-8 hours monthly for meetings and school visits.  Training and support will be provided.
  • References & Checks: Expect your Parish Priest to provide a reference, and safeguarding checks will be conducted.

What You will Do:

  • Uphold and develop the Catholic character and ethos of the Multi Academy Trust.
  • Help make strategic decisions and hold the senior executive team to account regarding Catholic Life & Ethos, Education Standards, Financial health and compliance.
  • Bring your professional and personal skills to the board.

Who We are Looking For

We are seeking volunteer Directors with strong strategic skills and high-level expertise in the following areas, but would welcome people from all professional backgrounds:

• Finance

• Operations and Estates

The application process will involve you completing a diocesan application pack and an interview with diocesan officers. In addition, applications from practising Catholics will be asked to provide a priest's reference.
